Driver Flees Following Rollover Crash

Sonora, CA — The CHP is investigating a crash that occurred on French Gulch Road in Calaveras County over the weekend.

The CHP reports that 43-year-old Ryan VanCleave of Murphys was driving a 2008 Ford F250 near the intersection of Lone Dove Lane. The vehicle left the road, hit a tree stump, and overturned. The CHP reports that VanCleave then fled the scene and left behind his vehicle and three teenage passengers. They were all between the ages of 15 and 16, and they had sustained minor injuries in the crash. The CHP reports that “alcohol and/or drugs” were a contributing factor in the collision. It happened at 7:55pm on Saturday. No further details have been released at this time.
