Updated: Air Resources Helping Fight Fire In Mariposa County

Updated at 8:30am: CAL Fire says a vegetation fire burning near the community of Mariposa is now 60% contained and still 24 acres. The Fox Fire ignited yesterday afternoon in the area of Alamo Creek and Lookout Mt. Daffodil. For a period of time yesterday some homes in the area were evacuated.

Updated at 6:40pm: CAL Fire reports that the Fox Fire in Mariposa County is now 24 acres and 20% contained. Some homes have been evacuated near the area of Alamo Creek and Lookout Mt. Daffodil. Air and ground resources will remain on scene this afternoon.

Original story posted at 1:38pm: Mariposa, CA — CAL Fire air resources from Columbia have been helping to extinguish a fire in Mariposa County this afternoon.

The vegetation fire is estimated to be 15 acres and is in the area of Lookout Mountain Road, just south of the community of Mariposa. It is not immediately clear if any structures are in danger. Expect activity in the area throughout the afternoon.
