End Of A Taxing Job

Sonora, CA –  He has spent the last 36 years of his career appraising and assessing property in Tuolumne County and today he received praise for crunching the numbers.

The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors acknowledged Assessor-Recorder Ken Caetano for helping weather the hard economic times.

“You’ve been instrumental in getting through this great recession,” said County Administrator Craig Pedro.  “I don’t know how we would have got through it without you and your steady hand.  You’re going to be truly missed,” Pedro added.

While working in the county assessor’s office, Caetano served as an Appraiser III, Chief Appraiser, and Assistant Assessor, before becoming the county’s Assessor-Recorder in January 2007.  He began his career in the Merced County Assessor’s Office, working there for 4 ½ years before coming to Tuolumne County.

In accepting a plaque Caetano said, “Thank you to the people of Tuolumne County….it is a great community to be a part of.  Thanks to the staff that I have had to work with. They’ve done everything I’ve ever asked them, and more.”

Caetano’s last day will be January 5, 2015.  On a personal note, Caetano shared with the board a fond memory of meeting his wife on the third floor of the Tuolumne County Administration Center in Sonora.
