Winter Storm Warning For The Mother Lode

The Winter Storm Warning issued for the Mother Lode above 2,000 feet, will remain in effect until 10 AM this morning. And the Winter Storm Warning issued for the central Sierra Nevada will expire at 1 PM this afternoon.

Additional snow accumulations of two to ten inches is likely above the 2,000 foot elevation.

Strong winds are gusting as high as fifty-five mph over exposed ridgetops and near the crest of the Sierra Nevada. Gusting winds may bring down tree branches.

Heavy snow occurred overnight. Plan on difficult or nearly impossible travel conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning means there will be snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while the Warning is in effect. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
