No Foul Play

Camanche Reservoir, CA — Calaveras County Sheriff’s officials have released more details on the human remains found in Camanche Reservoir near Valley Springs in June.

As reported earlier, boaters found a skull in the muddy shoreline.  Bones were sent to the forensic Lab in Santa Cruz and the findings have been reported back to investigators.

Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt says, “The report indicated it was a male, adult approximately 25 to 45 years of age. The ancestry was probable Native American. No foul play is suspected.”

The bones were determined to be hundreds of years old. They were given back to the Mi-Wuk tribe of Indians for proper burial.
