No Estimated Full Containment Time

Calaveras County, CA – Cal Fire reports there is no estimated time for full containment of the 80 – 100 acre Oak Fire, which remains 50% contained. However, crews continue to make progress on the flames that are burning in Calaveras County near Oak Valley Road and Pool Station Road.  Pool Station Road was closed at the Highway 4 intersection for several hours, but is now reopened to traffic. Motorists are being asked to avoid Pool Station Road and Riata Way to Highway 4.

Five homes on Riata Way are still evacuated at this time. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies made those evacuation around 4:30 this afternoon.  An evacuation shelter is open at the Copperopolis Elementary School at 217 School Street in Copperopolis.

There are also power lines threatened in the area and PG&E crews are on scene. Cal Fire reports the rate of spread continues to be moderate.

Air and ground resources are on scene including 331 firefighters, 30 engines, 13 fire crews, 7 water tenders, 5 dozers, 4 air tankers, 3 helicopters and Air Attack.

Assisting in battling the blaze are Central Fire, Mokelumne Hill Fire, San Andreas Fire, Angels Fire, Copperopolis Fire, Altaville/New Melones Fire, PG&E, CHP, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
