Valley Fire 100% Contained

Mariposa, CA — Cal Fire reports the Valley Fire is 100% contained at 90 acres.

Cal Fire Spokesperson Edwin Simpson says, “Four structures in total were destroyed by the fire, one house and three mobile homes.  We’re not sure if anyone was living in any of the structures.” At the height of the blaze, 40 structures were in danger.

The flames broke out around 5:30 pm Friday in the Hunters Valley Road area near the southeast shore of Lake McClure.   The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office ordered an evacuation of portions of Bear Valley Road and Hunters Valley Road Friday night and that order was lifted Saturday at 6 pm.

At one point, more than 350 firefighters were battling the blaze. There was one injury, but Cal Fire reports it was minor.

The Valley Fire was in the same region as the 677 acre Hunters Fire, which started on Memorial Day and was contained on June 2.
