Firefighters Get Handle On Vegetation Fire

Moccasin, CA — Cal Fire reports the forward progress has been stopped on a vegetation fire on Highway 49 near the Moccasin Creek Trout Hatchery and Marshes Flat Road.  Also, the acreage has dropped to 8.5 acres.  Initial reports had the size of the fire at 30 to 40 acres and about an hour later, that number decreased to 20 to 25 acres.

The flames broke out just after 2 pm off Highway 49.  Crews battled the blaze from the ground and air for several hours. Cal Fire reports ground crews will remain on the scene throughout the night and into tomorrow. There is no estimated time of containment.
