Burn Permits Suspended

Sonora, CA — CAL Fire has suspended burn permits in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

The order takes effect at 8am today within the state responsibility areas. Statewide there has been increased fire activity recently due to low precipitation, minimal humidity and high temperatures. CAL Fire began its transition into Fire Season months earlier than normal this year.

Homeowners are encouraged to make sure that there is 100 ft. of defensible space around all structures. Alternatives to outdoor burning include chipping or hauling debris to green waste sites.
