Rim Fire Volunteers Needed

Sonora, CA — Plenty of you have expressed a desire to volunteer to help with the Rim Fire recovery efforts and the forest plans to take you up on that offer.   The Stanislaus National Forest (STF) reports an outpouring of community interest has prompted officials to ramp up programs to coordinate volunteers and partnerships with Rim Fire recovery projects.

Clare Long is the forests new Partnerships and Volunteer Coordinator. She came to the STF from the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire, where she served as a Conservation Education Specialist.

“I am excited to have this opportunity to work with such a well-informed and engaged community,” Long said. “There are so many ways we can all work together on this huge recovery mission. I like helping people connect on their public lands. The Rim Fire happened to all of us, not just the Forest Service. It will take us all to get the restoration work done.”
