Update: Over 5,400 Waking Up To No Power

Update at 12:45 p.m.:  PG&E has updated details regarding this morning’s power outage in Calaveras County after inquiries by Clarke Broadcasting related to a cause. Utility spokesperson Megan McFarland disclosed that the outage that stretched from  Arnold to Lake Alpine began at 4:22 a.m. It impacted 4,689 customers in the Arnold areas and 569 in Bear Valley at the height of the outage. All the power was restored in the 9 o’clock hour, except for 114 customers in Dorrington. Their lights went on in the 10 o’clock hour. McFarland cited an equipment issue for the outage but had no more information in regards to the type of equipment or the exact “issue.”

Update at 9:45 p.m.: The lights are back on for the remaining 2,731 PG&E customers that awoke to no electricity this morning in Calaveras County.

Originally, the power outage was stretching along the Highway 4 corridor from the Arnold area up to Bear Valley and Lake Alpine impacting 5,455 customers since 4:22 a.m. The outage forced the closure of Hazel Fisher Elementary School in Arnold. Crews restored power to half of those customers with the outage then spanning from Dorrington to Lake Alpine. The power was restored to all the customers in the 9 o’clock hour but no cause was given by the company.

PG&E has reported another outage in the Dorrington area that began at 8:51 a.m. It is affecting 114 customers east of Highway 4 along Sierra Parkway and Indian Rock Road. The utility gives a restoration time of 6:45 p.m. with crews on the scene investigating a cause.

Update at 8:50 a.m.: PG&E crews are making progress on a power outage stretching from the Arnold area up to Bear Valley this morning.

The utility reports their lights went out around 4:22 a.m. Initially, 5,455 customers along the Highway 4 corridor were impacted. Crews have been able to cut that number nearly in half with 2,731 now without lights spanning from Dorrington to the Bear Valley area, including Lake Alpine. The company relayed crews have still not determined the cause of the outage. An 11:15 a.m. restoration time has been given. The outage forced the closure of Hazel Fisher Elementary School in Arnold.

Original post at 7:25 a.m.: Calaveras County, CA — Over 5,400 PG&E customers, stretching from the Arnold area up to Bear Valley, are waking up to no electricity this morning.

The utility reports their lights went out around 4:22 a.m. 5,455 customers are impacted along the Highway 4 corridor. The company relayed that crews are at the outage location and investigating the cause of the outage. An 11:15 a.m. restoration time has been given. Hazel Fisher Elementary School is closed due to the outage.
