Sonora Senior Facility Reopened

Sonora, CA — After a virus outbreak, the Avalon Care Center in Sonora has been given the green light to reopen.

“The public health department has given us authorization to lift the restrictions and it will go back to business as normal, “says Kelly Selman an Avalon Care Company Spokesperson. She adds the facility will open this morning.

The center located on Greenley Road has been closed to the public for over week after more than 50 residents came down with the highly contagious Noro Virus. The facility closed its doors to visitors and new admissions when the outbreak was discovered. During the epidemic, the senior center had 196 residents. Selman says the virus is not life threatening.
