Rim Fire Open House

Sonora, CA — There is an opportunity to learn more about the Rim Fire recovery efforts.

An environmental review is underway regarding the restoration efforts that will occur in the forest, looking at issues like reforestation and salvage logging operations.

An open house will be from 2-5pm, Thursday, in the Stanislaus National Forest Conference Room, located at the main office at 19777 Greenley Road. The Forest Service reports that there will be information presented about alternatives that have been developed for the initial phase of recovery, based on public input and collaborative efforts. The Rim Fire started on August 17th and burned 257-thousand acres. 154-thousand acres are situated within the Stanislaus National Forest.
