Motorists Delays For Bridge Maintenance

Calaveras County, CA — Repairs to the bridge over the Calaveritas Creek and along Highway 49 between Angels Camp and San Andreas will slow down commuters next week. Caltrans crews will be doing erosion protection and prevention work from the creek to Angels Road.

Caltrans Spokesperson Angela DaPrato says, “Caltrans will be performing rock slope and cement apron protection to prevent water erosion on the bridge. The apron goes around the bridge’s support pillars to fight erosion from the creek. “

The bridge and highway will be down to one-way traffic control from 8 am to 3 pm Monday thru Friday next week. Motorists can expect 5 to 10 minute delays. The work will be done weather permitting.

DaPrato also says, “This type of work is very weather depended and conditions haven’t been very suitable lately. What we need is three consecutive days of good weather so it doesn’t threaten the apron we are putting in place.”

To help you get where you are going on the Thanksgiving Holiday the state has placed restrictions on Caltrans construction work. No work is allowed Wednesday Nov. 27th at 6 am until Monday Dec. 2nd at 9 am.
