Chinese Camp Shooting Investigation

Chinese Camp, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting in Chinese Camp.


“A 22-year-old male arrived at Sonora Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle, and he had a gunshot wound to his leg,” says Scott Johnson, Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson. “The male claims he was the victim of a shooting on Shawmut Road in Chinese Camp.”


Very few details are currently available regarding the incident. The gunshot wound is considered to be “non-life-threatening.”


“Our detectives responded to the hospital and interviewed the victim,” adds Johnson. “They are still in the stages of determining where exactly the incident occurred and the exact circumstances of the shooting.”


The name of the victim has not been released. He arrived at SRMC at around 5:15pm on Monday.
