Rim Fire Responders “Honorary Citizens”

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors took time to honor the many heroes that have been battling the Rim Fire.

This morning the Board approved a proclamation declaring “Honorary Citizenship” to all emergency responders and volunteers that have offered assistance in fighting the Rim Fire. On hand to accept the proclamation were Incident Commander Mike Wilkins and Deputy Incident Commander Mike Dueitt. Wilkins was very complimentary of the county’s response, and the outpouring of support from the community.

Wilkins and the Southern Area Blue Team, based out of Georgia, will hand over the Incident Command duties to a California Incident Management Team effective tomorrow morning. The new Incident Commander will be Jerry Magowan.

The Rim Fire is now over 235,000 acres and 75% contained.
