UCLA Medical Center has announced that an elderly man received the world´s fourth implantation of a self-contained artificial heart.
The patient is resting comfortably after yesterday´s eleven-hour procedure to implant the Abio-Cor replacement heart.
A statement from the UC Health Sciences department describes the man as being in his 70s. His name is not being released.
