Moke Hill Cell Tower Gets Go-Ahead

An appeal to stop a cell phone tower from going up near a man´s Mokelumne Hill home has been denied by the Calaveras County Planning Commission.

According to the Stockton Record, Michael Strobel appealed the Calaveras County Planning Commission´s approval of a use permit for Cingular Wireless, which wants to erect a 67-foot pole with 12 antenna panels, two 4-foot diameter microwave dishes and ground-mounted equipment cabinets —all on 23 acres off Miwok Trail.

The man raised concerns about microwave radiation at a November 20th commission hearing.

When the commission approved the project, Strobel appealed to the Board of Supervisors. The board yesterday, turned down Strobel´s appeal on a 3-0 vote.
