McEvoy Remains May Have Been Discovered

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department may have discovered the remains of 12 year old Veronica McEvoy.

Sunday at approximately 6pm, the Sheriff´s Department received a call from a kayaker on the Tuolumne River. He had stopped to take a break when he located what he believed to be human bones and a blue life vest two to three hundred yards downriver from the confluence of Corral Creek and the Tuolumne River.

Monday afternoon, Sheriff´s Department personnel located the items and they are believed to be those of the Concord youth who fell out of a canoe and was swept away on Monday, June 26th. The remains were located approximately five miles downstream from the point where she entered the water.

Positive identification is pending upon examination of dental records and DNA analysis.
