21 Homes Headed For Wallace, Again

Wallace, CA — Roughly 137 acres in Wallace has been divided to make way for 21 lots to build new homes in Wallace.

Thursday, the Calaveras County Planning Commission approved the land division on Southworth Road.

It approved the division once before in 2005 but that decision was appealed to the Board of Supervisors which sent it back to the commission.

The appellant, Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center, said at the time, the project had negative impacts to agriculture lands.

The project´s initial study was updated with the concerns and re-circulated for review.

County Planner John Andersen says the owner now has 3 years to build the project. Although, he says there´s talk of selling the land to someone else who will build the project.
