Legislators Favor Cable TV Competition

Sacramento, CA — A bill that would help telephone companies get into the cable television business will be taken by state lawmakers tomorrow.

A state Senate committee is set to consider a bill that would allow companies such as A-T-and-T and Verizon Communications to offer cable services by obtaining a state franchise.

The bill has already passed the Assembly in a 77-to-zero vote.
