Report Indicates Increase In Hunger Cases

San Andreas, CA — A recently released report on hunger in Calaveras and Amador counties reveals the number of those suffering from hunger is increasing.

The report was compiled by the Human Resources Council Food Bank in Calaveras County and the Interfaith Food Bank of Amador County. The goal is to end hunger by knowing more about it.

Over 600 people were surveyed.

The report indicates that numbers are on the rise due to increases in the cost of living and stagnate wages.

The report also exposed 40 percent of those affected are kids.

Every month, between 4,000 to 5,000 people are served emergency food by the two counties.
