Tuolumne General Hospital…A Second Chance?

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will consider funding scenarios for a new facility for Tuolumne General Hospital in two weeks.

After more than two hours of discussion Tuesday, the board directed County Administrator Brent Wallace to formulate the funding options to comply with state earthquake standards.

He was also directed to research how a new facility would financially impact other county departments. Upcoming hearings on the recommendations have been postponed, pending a board decision.

The possible scenarios provided by the Lewin Group include rebuilding the hospital and operating it as an acute care facility, turning it into a non-acute clinic or closing it.
