CHP Says Murder Suspect Acted Alone

Stockton, CA — A Stockton man is in jail for his connection to the murder of CHP officer Earl Scott who was shot and killed Friday morning after making a traffic stop on Highway 99.

Reports say 30 -year-old Columbus Allen II was arrested after he confessed to the Stockton Police Department about his involvement in the murder. Authorities now believe Allen acted alone when he pulled the trigger.

Officials say Scott was killed by a single bullet to the head, however a motive has not been offered. A second man was arrested Friday evening as a material witness.
