Cell Phone Use To Blame For Accident And Broken Back

Sonora, CA — A Stockton man is recovering from major injuries after his car hit an embankment on Highway 120.

California Highway Patrol officers say 48 year old Gregory Cox was driving in the left lane on Highway 120 near Rock Shoppe Road when his cell phone rang.

Reports indicate Cox looked down and reached over to answer the phone when his car drifted off the roadway.

Cox then overcorrected and lost control of the car. Officers say the car hit an embankment on the south shoulder. He was taken to Tuolumne General Hospital with a broken back.
