Copperopolis, Ca — CAL Fire Battalion Chief Dennis Townsend says today´s vegetation fire on Hwy 4 near Milton Rd. was caused by a commercial truck, pulling a trailer.
“It lost its right rear tire, and drug the axle along the highway causing sparks to fly in the grass,” says Townsend. It caused about a one mile flame front.”
Townsend says the truck has been located, and the driver has been cited. The fire was estimated at 200 plus acres. It is now contained.
