Youth Involvement Strong At Calaveras Fair

Angels Camp, CA — An evening for media hosted by the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee proved that youth participation in the fair´s many events is strong.

This year´s fair takes place from May 16 through the 20.

On hand at media night were the Miss Calaveras contestants, the Saddle Queen Competition contestants and the Junior Fair Board. The Frogeteria was packed with local youth eager to share their talents.

The Miss Calaveras Pageant takes place at 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 16 on the main stage. Ten young girls are competing in an interview, health and fitness, talent and evening gown. The pageant Coordinator says the music in this year´s program will befunky.”

The Saddle Queen Competition begins at 4 p.m., May 16. Five girls will be judged on their interview skills and their horsemanship abilities. This is the 10th year the Calaveras Saddle Club has put on the competition.

The Junior Fairboard will serve as the fair´s youth ambassadors throughout the fair. 31-high school students are participating this year. Their responsibilities include working in the office, frog jump, kids activities, gate survey, livestock and much more.
