St. Patrick To Lead Irish Days Parade

Murphys, CA — The Patron Saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, will head up the Irish Days Parade.

With a little imagination, the Murphys Business Association decided it fitting to have St. Patrick as grand marshal since the annual celebration falls on St. Patrick´s Day, March 17.

Murphys Irish Days begins with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Congregational Church.

The festivities on Main Street start at 10 a.m. and go to 5 p.m. 100 vendors will be on hand with arts and crafts, home-baked goods, Irish t-shirts, souvenirs and much more. Corned beef sandwiches and other culinary treats will also be available.

For the kids there will be pony rides and a petting zoo. Other entertainment includes Irish bands and an Irish sword dancer.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. on Main Street. This year more than 40 entries are scheduled. They include St. Patrick, of course, and the Bret Harte Marching Band and the Calaveras Community Band.
