Calaveras To Conduct Homeless Survey

San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County will soon be tallying up its homeless population with the hope that the data will leverage funding to provide homeless services.

The county recently received a $37,000 grant to conduct a homeless needs assessment. Tuesday the Board of Supervisors made an agreement with the Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency to do the work.

Calaveras County does not have a homeless shelter and currently uses services in neighboring counties.

Once the assessment is complete, a list of proposed projects will be compiled and grant funding identified. The goal is to create a plan to reduce the number of homeless.
