Meth Enforcement Grant Brings New Sheriff Staff

San Andreas, CA — New staff is being hired by the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department thanks to a grant targeting methamphetamine manufacturers and distributors.

The Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to create and fill four new positions, which will be fully funded by the grant.

The grant comes from the state Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team Grant program. Another component of the program protects endangered children exposed to drugs.

The Sheriff will hire a full time sergeant, two full time deputies and one part time social worker.
