Volunteers Serve Up Christmas Dinners

Sonora, CA — Many in the Mother Lode are donating their time this holiday season so that those who are less fortunate can experience a warm Christmas dinner.

Residents packed into the Mother Lode Fairgrounds Wednesday during the annual Tuolumne County Community Christmas Eve Dinner.

?The room was full all day long with happy guests,? says coordinator Cathie Peacock. ?We served over 1,700 meals and gave out over 500 toys.?

In Murphys this afternoon, over 700 are expected to attend a free Christmas dinner hosted by the Murphys Friends at the Native Sons Hall. The gathering will run from 1-3pm.

At the Sonora Opera Hall today, a free Christmas dinner will be served from 3-5pm for those in need.
