Calaveras Public Health Begins Administering Flu Shots

San Andreas, Ca — A series of flu shot clinics put on by the Calaveras County Public Health Department kicked off today in Valley Springs, and six more are scheduled over the next six weeks.

It’s important for people that are considered high risk to be vaccinated against influenza, says County Health Officer Dr. Dean Kelaita. Each year influenza, on average, will kill 36,000 people in America, and the majority of those deaths are preventable.

Those at risk include adults over the age of 50, those with chronic health conditions, women who are pregnant, children and teens, healthcare workers and caregivers.

The cost of shots at the clinics range from $0-15, depending on family size. No one will be denied based on the inability to pay.

Flu shot clinics will be held at the following locations:

10/30 ? San Andreas Cal Works/Sequoia Room, 509 E. Charles St. 9am-1pm.

11/4 – Copperopolis Town Square off Little John Rd. 9am-1pm.

11/6 – Arnold Chapel in the Pines Church. 10am-1pm.

11/13 – West Point Community Hall. 10am-1pm.

12/3 ? San Andreas Cal Works/Sequoia Room. 2-4pm.

12/6 ? Bret Harte High School. 9am-1pm.
