Vegetation Fire In Stanislaus National Forest

Strawberry, Ca — Forest Service helicopters and firefighters are on scene of a lightning caused fire in an isolated area of the Stanislaus National Forest, approximately 10 miles north of Strawberry.

Information Officer Jerry Snyder says the fire started yesterday, and the initial plan was to allow it to burn out naturally. The strategy changed this afternoon when the blaze started to noticeably grow in size.

?It is about 15 acres now, so you´ll see a pretty good column of smoke from the Donnell Vista area,? says Snyder. ?If you see smoke up there, don´t be too alarmed, because we are working on it today.?

No structures are considered at risk.
