Telegraph Fire Is 45 Percent Contained

Mariposa, Ca — The Telegraph fire has now consumed 33,705 acres and is considered 45 percent contained.

The fire continues to be active on the north and east flanks near Jenkins Hill in the Merced River Drainage. It has been moving in a northeasterly direction.

Today, the California National Guard joined the effort to suppress the blaze, and are working to extinguish any hotspots that might re-ignite. Their efforts are helping to ensure that residents get back into evacuated areas as soon as possible.

There are 466 engines on scene, 96 crews, 16 helicopters, 10 air tankers, 64 dozers and 56 water tenders. A total of 4,496 firefighters have been assigned to the incident. The total cost to date is now $18,847,097. There is still no timeline for full containment.
