Officer Who Shot DeRossette Identified By CHP

Jamestown, Ca — The officer who shot 40-year-old Larry James DeRossette, Jr. early Wednesday morning has been identified as Eli Dillon.

CHP Commander Mike Ayala says Dillon has been placed on administrative leave, which is common for an incident of this nature. “We´re being very flexible and open to the officer´s needs and his wife´s needs,” says Ayala. “It does affect a family when thinking through what happened, and what could have happened.”

DeRossette allegedly tried to hold up the Tesoro service station in Jamestown, and led officers on a foot chase. The suspect was shot by Officer Dillon after pulling out a handgun. DeRossette has been under law enforcement supervision at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
