French Fire Is 60% Contained: Structures No Longer At-Risk

Jamestown, Ca — CAL Fire reports that the French Fire in the New Melones area should be fully contained by 10pm this evening.

The fire is estimated to be 102 acres, and originated in a storage shed shortly after two o´clock this afternoon. The fire is not expected to be fully controlled, however, until Thursday morning at 8:30am.

Earlier tonight, 200 historic structures in the Tuttletown area were considered at-risk, but officials report that the firefighters have been able to stop the forward spread of the blaze.

CAL Fire Investigator Rommie Jones says it has been determined that the fire was human caused. Outside resources were called in to fight the fire, including four C-130 Aircraft from the California National Guard.
