Summit Focuses On Economic Future Of Calaveras County

Angels Camp, CA — Working together toward a common goal of achieving an agreed upon future of economic diversity for Calaveras County was the theme at the Economic Revitalization Summit held Friday at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp.

The all day event was hosted by Chamber of Commerce, City of Angels Camp and Calaveras County. One of the featured speakers was Tim Johnson of the California Business Minute in Sacramento, who says that the community has a number of questions that need to be addressed in the near future.

?They have to dust off some plans, build consensus and move forward,? says Johnson. ?This is the quintessential charming and quaint community, which we have so many of in the Sierra Foothills. Do they want to continue to keep this as a quaint and charming community? If so, how do they retain that character by creating a sustainable and diverse economy??

The other guest speaker was Steve Art, the Economic Development Director of Lincoln, California. There was also a time of breakout sessions in which individual panels were set up to discuss tourism, agriculture, retail, industry, professional services, infrastructure and quality of life.
