Board Makes Amendments To Mountain Springs Project

Sonora, Ca — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to add a number of amendments to the Mountain Springs Community Project, an it will be brought back for a vote as early as next week.

Supervisor Teri Murrison is asking that an Ag Mitigation Fund be created that the developers and home parcel owners would be required to contribute to in an effort to make up for the loss of ag land. The money would be used by the County to provide programs to protect local agriculture.

Board Chair Dick Pland is asking that each parcel be required to pay a $600 initial fee that would go towards fire protection, with an additional $100 yearly fee. He is also asking that 100 units be dedicated for senior housing.

Supervisor Mark Thornton, who indicated he is against the current project, was the lone vote against the motion to make the amendments.
