Tuolumne County Transit Adds Two New Busses

Sonora, CA — At a cost of a little more than $360,000 Tuolumne County Transit has added two new busses to its fleet.

What sets these busses apart from all the others is they both seat 30 passengers. Deputy Director of Transportation for the County Darin Grossi comments that the busses will be utilized during peak commute hours.

He added that ridership has increased to the point that it has been “standing room only” on in-bound morning busses. The same situation holds true for students traveling out to Columbia College.

Ditto for the late afternoon and early evening commute. 18 seat busses have witnessed “standing room only” crowds on many occasions.

Last year Tuolumne County Transit recorded in excess of 111,000 rides. Gross adds that while he hasn´t had the opportunity to review this year ridership totals his drivers are telling him that there are a host of new faces riding Tuolumne County Transit this year.
