Tuolumne County Administrator Craig Pedro Begins Next Five Years

Earlier this month by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors, Tuolumne County Administrative Officer Craig Pedro had his contract extended by five years.

Pedro’s current contract, signed November 1, 2006, will expire Saturday October 31st (tomorrow). The new contract will run from November 1st 2009 through October 31, 2014.

Pedro was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

The first three years of Pedro’s term saw several complex and divisive issues, such as the Mountain Springs development project, the closure of Tuolumne General Hospital and most recently, the approval of the Tuolumne County Law and Justice Center.

Pedro is an optimist and despite the current economic times, he says that recovery will happen,  it’s just a matter of both time and making smart decisions. Pedro wants to be sure that Tuolumne County moves in the right direction.

When questioned by Supervisor Dick Pland if he really wanted the job position for the next five years, Pedro answered with an immediate and firm, “Yes”.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:46, 7:46 and 8:46am.
