Lawmakers Set To Discuss Water

Sacramento, CA — A joint legislative hearing on 2009 water legislation is set for Wednesday morning at the state capitol.

Tuolumne Utilities District General Manager Pete Kampa told the Tuolumne County Supervisors Tuesday, “No one has seen the language of the bills in public yet, but there have been versions floating around the last few weeks.”

When the legislation is made public, Kampa is concerned that it will include provisions that could have a negative effect on “county of origin” rights, but is optimistic it will include additional funding for mountain county water projects.

The joint hearing is scheduled for 10am in Sacramento.
