Oliveira Captures Miss Tuolumne County Honors

Sonora, CA — Katy Oliveira was named Miss Tuolumne County Friday evening at the Miss Tuolumne County Pageant.

Oliveira was KVML’s “Newsmaker of the Day” on Wednesday.

Kylie Gempler was named Teen Miss Tuolumne County, Taylor Gempler captured Jr. Miss Tuolumne County honors, Rayna Rodgers was named Little Miss Tuolumne County and Emma Modrell walked away with Tiny Miss Tuolumne County honors.

The seventeen-year-old Oliveira was born and raised in Tuolumne County. She is a senior at Sonora High School where she is a varsity football cheerleader and is on the swim team.

Oliveira wanted to run for Miss Tuolumne County because this is her final year residing in the motherlode and she wants to be a role model for young girls.

In addition to receiving the title and the crown as Miss Tuolumne county, Oliveira also won $300 and a $350 dance scholarship to Onstage Dance Studio.

After graduation, Oliveira would like to attend Sierra College in Rocklin before transferring to a California University. She would like to go into the medical field possibly as pediatric nurse.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am
