Mountain Lion Sightings In Sonora

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Police Department has received three reports of a mountain lion sighting in the past two days.

Police Chief Mark Stinson says the sightings have been on Mono Way, Morningstar Dr., and Greenly Rd. The lion is described as 120-140 lbs.

Mountain lions can sometimes become aggressive, but there have been no reports of this particular animal showing those signs. Children should still not be left unattended while playing outside.

Residents who see a lion should contact a local law enforcement agency or the Department of Fish and Game.
