Freeze Causes Minor Crop Damage

Sonora, CA — Mt. Brow Winery owner Jim Costello reports he did suffer some crop damage due to the Tuesday and Wednesday overnight freezing temperatures.

Costello adds the freeze picked on all three of his varietals, Sangiovese, Merlot and Zinfandel.

Costello added that far more damage was suffered last year because of the early warm weather that brought forth so many buds prior to the freeze. This year there were not so many buds because of the overall cooler weather.

This year’s damage was suffered by grapes planted at the highest elevation.
