April Is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Sonora, CA — April has been designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“If you see child abuse, speak up and contact law enforcement,” says Erin Begley, Chair of the Prevent Child Abuse Tuolumne County Council.

One way to prevent child abuse from people outside the home is to know as much as you can about your surroundings.

Lt. Dan Bressler with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says residents can find information about where sex offenders are living in the county by going to www.tuolumnecountysheriff.org and click on the “Offender Watch” link. Residents can type in an address, and find pictures of offenders and where they live.

“Parents can show kids the pictures of these folks, and tell them to stay away from them,” adds Bressler.
