CHP Receives Funding For Added Traffic Enforcement

Sonora, CA — The CHP will begin focusing more attention on cracking down on high speed drivers over the next nine months.

“Comprehensive Approach to Reducing Speed” (CARS) is a statewide project that is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“It’s going to be starting in the next few weeks and will basically run through the summer and holiday season when people are taking their long trips,” says Tom Wills, Sonora area CHP Officer.

Officers throughout the state will be looking for traffic violations in hopes of preventing serious accidents. The grant of $3.5 million will help pay overtime for officers.
