Officials Looking For Body Of Convicted Man In Yosemite

osemite, CA — The Associated Press reports that federal authorities are looking for the body of a Connecticut man who they believe committed suicide at Yosemite Falls, one month after he was convicted of impersonating a federal officer.

National Park Service rangers say 37-year-old David Zerbe hiked up a trail to Yosemite Falls Monday and called 911 saying that he was going to commit suicide. Officials say he walked into frigid water leading to the 2,425-foot-high falls and disappeared after five hours of negotiations.

A jury in Connecticut convicted Zerbe on February 18 of two counts of impersonating an officer. He was currently free on bond, but was to be sentenced in May.
