Sonora Housing Survey Set To Begin Monday

Sonora, CA — City of Sonora officials will start going door-to-door Monday to conduct a housing survey that will be incorporated into Sonora’s long term General Plan.

The City received a $35,000 Community Development Block Grant to conduct the survey. The goal is to learn whether homes are strong or in need of minor to major repairs.

City staff will also meet with the occupants in hopes of finding basic household information. They will be asking about household costs, size, ages and income range. If the occupants are not home, surveys will be left at the residence to be completed and returned to the City.

It will take an estimated 6-8 weeks to complete the process. The housing element of the General Plan will include goals, policies and programs that will be carried out over an eight year period. It will take into account existing home conditions, the need for special needs housing, population, employment and housing constraints.
