Playing It Safe This New Year’s Eve

Sonora, CA– With New Year’s Eve fastly approaching, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to never ring in the new year with firearms.

“Shooting guns off at midnight is never a good idea, especially if you’ve been drinking,” said Sgt. Jeff Wilson. “We have trouble with this every year. Those bullets do come down and do gather enough speed that can cause fatal injuries.”

Wilson says it’s also important to remember that fireworks are illegal in Tuolumne County and should never be used.
