Winter Storm Warning Issued For Sierra Nevada

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada from Tuesday 4 PM through Wednesday 4 PM.

Snow levels will begin around 6000 feet before lowering to 2500 feet.


Several inches of snow accumulation is expected at 3000 feet. Half a foot to one foot of snow is likely from 4000 through 5000 feet. One to three feet of snow is probable from 5000 through 7000 feet.


Winds of forty to sixty mph are likely over the crest of the Sierra Nevada with some gusts reaching up to eighty mph.


One to two inches of rain should be expected below the snow line.


The Motherlode may even see small hail and sleet on Wednesday.


Clear skies and cold temperatures are likely Wednesday night. Wind chill temperatures will be in the teens and twenties in the Motherlode and near zero in the Sierra Nevada.


Most roadways are expected to be icy on Wednesday night.
